Youth Activities

Our Youth Group is designed for young people in grades 6 through 12.   It is led by our staff youth leader along with dedicated adult volunteers.   This group typically meets for fellowship, followed by a service project, "fun" activity or bible study.  Please check the calendar for dates and times.

We also have a Sunday School Class for grades 6 through 12 that meets every Sunday morning.

Confirmation Class is held as needed for 7th and 8th grade youth.

The United Methodist Church offers great summer camps for our youth. Brochures are available in the lounge listing all the various opportunities throughout the West Michigan Conference area.  St. Paul's United Methodist Men pay a deposit for each child attending.

St. Paul's youth conduct a worship service once a year on Youth Sunday.  They also participate at other times of the year as ushers, greeters, communion stewards, lay readers, etc.

These programs provide our young people with opportunities to grow in the Christian faith, and are balanced between areas of service, study, worship and fellowship.  All youth of the church are encouraged to attend any of our activities, which are publicized in the newsletter, bulletin and special mailings.

Meet Bill Cummings, our Youth Director...

I grew up in the small town of Hartford, Michigan. It was there that I was exposed to the Gospel through the childrenís ministry of a small church near where I grew up. During my teenage years I became part of a community filled with wonderful friends and mentors. It was during this time that pastoral talents and passions were revealed and I felt God leading me into a career in youth ministry.

Responding to this call, I attended Grace Bible College in Wyoming, Michigan and enjoyed four years of growing in knowledge and fellowship as I studied and served in several local churches.

Upon graduating, I acted as youth director of Franklin Community Church in Franklin, Indiana, serving under the man who had been my youth pastor when I was a teenager. It was a great group of youth and I was delighted to share life with them as we walked together for several years before I departed to pursue Masterís level training at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts.

I returned to west Michigan this past June and was thrilled when offered the chance to serve here. Thank you for letting me be a part of the family at Saint Paulís and I look forward to getting to know you and share life together as we heed the call to love God and our neighbor.
